My favorite Sunday morning past time, grocery shopping. Went over to Walmart. Much though I would rather shop elsewhere, but when you have to stretch out your dollars, you shop where you get the best deal. 8:00 in the morning you can walk around take your time and not bump into everybody and have a nice quiet, non-eventful time. You know, everybody talks about Walmart, are they the best thing to happen to your area? Maybe, but it depends on your point of view. I won’t go into any details or discuss any of the good point’s or bad point’s of Walmart. It’s just there. You can shop it or not. That’s your choice. Enough on Walmart. You know Sunday morning is a great time to go shopping, less people. Those that are out and about this early, seem to be friendlier and not so much in a hurry to get there. That’s the biggest plus for Sunday shopping. I really hate to go during the week, because everybody is a little bent out of shape at the same reason you hate to go. Too many friggin assholes that are in a hurry and too many idiots that get in your way and just make it miserable to shop.
I bought grapes, white and red seedless. They have been so good this year. I bought a few things I shouldn’t have. Some extra stuff I don’t need, but I saw and just had to have them. I was going to make Zucchini Surprise, and I picked up the normal wide egg noodles and then I saw them, whole wheat noodles. Thought they would be nice to try, and then I thought of brown rice, and if I’m getting brown rice, how about regular white rice and then and then… So you see I just had the, why not’s. Guess I should make a list then stick to it. Oh well, I might not need to shop for a while.
Yesterday I finished the paper work for the Taxman, (in my case the Tax Lady), and the questionnaire they sent for my Social Security disability claim. The tax stuff was the usual stuff, what do you have, what you need, lalalala… The disability forms where really in depth. How do you do this, do that, how does your diablility effect this and that, do you need help doing this, that and the other. I see where they need this information, but when they get Dr. reports and statements, they should know that people couldn’t do this or that or the other. Maybe I just don’t like talking about not being able to do the things I used to do before I got these problems.
The weather has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL these past few days. This morning is no exception. I actually can breath pretty good. The humidity is down quite a bit from the previous weeks.
I just might go for a ride this afternoon. Maybe down towards Cooperstown. Hey, I haven’t been down that way since I took Kim to Bassett Hospital several years ago. And I haven’t been to the Baseball Hall of Fame, since I was a little kid. Yes I live so close to the Hall of Fame, and have no excuse for not going there in forty-five years or more. I know it, I’m a bag… It would be packed down there. I hate to go where there are so many people at once. One of the last times I was down their, back in 1993, Dad had bought his last “new” car and we just took a ride. We ended up in Cooperstown, and couldn’t find a place to park, even in the parking lots out side of town. I bet there had to be an extra ten thousand people in town that day. So I guess, I’ll head the other way, maybe up to Old Forge. I haven’t been up to my old stomping grounds in a long time. I’ll just have to wait till fall to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame, when it’s less crowded and I can take my time in the museum. Speaking of Hall of Fames, I’d like to go back to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. To bad my sister doesn’t leave there any more, I could save a lot of money, if she still lived there.
Most likely I’ll end up going over to the Legion and watch the race today. I got four squares on the pool this week. One of them I’m sharing with Lea Anne. I could use a win this week. I got to pay my phone bill and cable bill. I won second once this year. So I’m just about even for the year. I wasn’t a big race fan until recently. Dad used to watch every race that was on, each and every Saturday. I used to watch them with him when it was raining or if I wasn’t out playing or hanging out with my friends. But I don’t go hog wild over it. I would like to go to race someday.
I guess I’ll have to save my money to go someday. Used to go to hockey games with Mom, Dad and Sue all the time. Also went to Buffalo to see the Bills play several times. I guess the best time was when Dad and I went to the game after Mom died. Sue got corporate rates for Residence Inn in the northern part of Buffalo. She didn’t go to the game, she was sick. Dad and I got to watch the game and just hang out. After the game we got stuck in the traffic. The game ended about 10:00pm and we got back to the hotel about 1:30am. We sat in the car, in the parking lot for almost an hour, then it still took us took us another two and a half hours to get back. We were giving everybody the business when they would try to crowd us out of the way or try to pass us on the wrong side of the road. It was a blast hearing my Dad yell at the goofballs. Good thing I was driving. He just might have got us into an accident. I almost got hit about three times…
Oh well, I guess I’ve spouted off long enough. Till next time, “Keep your stick on the Ice”.
