Post Halloween

Another first of the month, and of coarse grocery day.
My other brother from the other side of the tracks took me to the store to get my groceries and then stop and pay my rent… Now I’m almost broke until the 16th. Oh well, such is life in this fine part of the country. Last night was Halloween, oooooooooo OOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!! The creatures were out in force last night.

Our Kiwanis Club had a little Party for the kids and we gave out prizes for the best and neatest costumes. We also provided the kids and parents with cider, popcorn, donuts and candy and a toy surprise. We had about 40 t0 45 kids, which is a far better number than last years turnout of 6. We had it down to the marina. The village donated two big boxes of donuts and the use of the pavilion. House at the marina donated the popcorn and toy prizes. Our club donated the money prizes and the cider. A panel of three judged the kids and all in all they handed out about 15 prizes to the best dressed and so on….

I don’t know, but I haven’t been feeling well the past few days. I haven’t really been sleeping to good either. Must be the weather and time changes. Hope to get a good night sleep tonight. I’ve been cutting back on my coffee consumption, but I drink decafe and only in the morning. I stay away from caffeine and have cut down on alcohol consumption as well. Only one to two glasses of wine when I have dinner, and only one or two drinks on an occasion. So maybe I need to stop or up the consumption. Up the consumption , hmmmm, that’s not a bad idea…. Well not really, I can’t afford it.. Oh well, just grin and bare it… TTFN.!

A little Bourbon Manhattan

Well it seam’s that they were right. They caught Bucky. That's good, I would hate to have the New York State Troopers not get their man. Just like the Mounties. I would really like to know if he really thought he could get away from them. Oh well, we’ll probably never know.

I’m sitting here enjoying my Sunday doing nothing. Well I’m not actually doing nothing. I’m watching the tube and playing on the puter. I’m also drinking a Manhattan. Made with lots of ice and some sweet vermouth and Ezra Brooks Bourbon. Very tasty. I have been enjoying this bottle I got a few weeks back, I was looking for some bourbon and was kind of low on funds, so I picked up this bottle of Ezra. The 90 proof bottling. It’s not to bad. I’m kind of impressed with the flavor. Straight up it’s not too harsh, like some of the lower priced brands. But with a different taste. You know I like my Woodfords Reserve and knob Creek, but they are just out of my current price range. I also like Jack…….

However, this Ezra is a good allterative to those higher priced bourbons. Speaking of higher priced bourbons, I fondly remember the two Ultra Luxury Extremely High Priced Bourbons from Jim Beam. The Distiller’s Masterpiece Bourbon. I know most people wouldn’t spend $159 to $200 for a bottle of booze, but some do. Yes they were very good. Each one different from the other. I believe the first one was partly aged in regular charred oak barrels and finished in cognac casks, (fancy name for barrel). The second finished in port wine barrels. I liked the first one better than the second did. Just my opinion. At first, I thought I wasted my money. But like a good wine, I started to like it the more I tasted it. Of coarse I didn’t drink it all min one night. My first bottle lasted about 10-11 months. However, the second went quicker, in about six months. I really don’t think I would buy another special bottling at those prices again. I bought those when I had the liquor store, and just had to pay at cost. Back to the Ezra, I remember many years ago, at a friend’s house we tried the Ezra and found it very good. I still think it’s pretty good. Like I’ve said it before, I have never met a bourbon I didn’t like. But I will tell you that there are some I would only drink, if there were nothing else to drink. Some are just plain lacking in the flavor department, and some are just too harsh, but adding the correct amount of ice, water, or what ever you like to add to your bourbon can make the world of difference in the drink.

Most Bourbon or even, Scotch purists will tell you, That you should drink them straight with only water or ice. I agree with them most times, but I do like bourbon in Manhattans. So sue me…….

But any way, try some Ezra Brooks at the 90 proof bottling. You will like it.

Something of a little trivia, do you know that bourbon and most whiskeys as well as beer, start out the same. First you need grains, hops and water, and then you cook them, then add yeast and let it ferment. Then the difference comes in, beer is aged then bottled and whiskey is distilled, then aged then bottled. Now you know why good made hops, it’s in two elixirs of the gods. I’m not trying to piss of the wine people, but I like wine too…..
Well that’s it, I’ll just have to have another Manhattan and wait to watch the Red Green Show that comes on this afternoon…..

So in keeping up with Red…. Keep your stick on the ice……………………….

Life is good....

There, I said it, life is good.. Yes it really is. I feel the best I've felt in a long time, maybe even years. I guess moving up the street has been good for me. I have to walk three time as far to go to the store, or anywhere. That's what has been good. In the past few weeks, I've found I can walk farther without stopping to catch my breath and stop less frequently. Besides's, everyone I run into say's I look relly good and ask's how much weight I've lost. Well I must say,I think I've lost some weight, my pants fit less snuggly, or rather loosely depending on which pants I'm wearing. I can say. the pan't I bought in the spring, when I went to my sister's, are definately fitting a lot looser than they did after I bought them. I hope the dryers at the new place shrink them a little, my suspenders are having to work harder at keeping my pants from falling down....LOL I also noticed that some of the cut off's I wear fit a lot better than they did in the beginning of summer. I have tried ti cut down on my food intake and have watched what I drink as far as calories.. I don't drink much soda, and really don't drink that much beer any more. Mostly because i can't afford to. So that's one thing that makes life good.

Another thing is I have a new place to live. I've settled in and seem to get along with everyone in the building. The apartment is really nice, small but nice. My only complaint about the whole place is the fact that the carpet in the apartment is dark red. It shows every little thing as far as dirt, lint of crumbs. So I have to vacuumm about every other day. Or it look's like hell. Oh, well.

Another reason for felling good is the fact that we've had a pretty good summer. Not to hot, not too much rain. Well, maybe I didn't have to worry about the big rain storm of the summer. I've only had to walk downtown in the rain only once this summer. So I've been luccky.

Well this weekend we might get some rain from the tropicla storm Ernesto. But, I'll have manhattan fixin's so when Art comes home this weekend, we'll have something to do if it's to wet out.......

Well that's it for now, keep your stick on the Ice.............

Life after the Fair..

Well we finished the parking at the county fair. We got wet on Saturday as well as a little on Sunday. If it wasn't for that we would have had another stellar week. But you have to take the rain with the sunshine. Hopefully we will end up with twenty six hundred dollars after the refreshments, pizza and portajohn is paid for. You know, if I don't have another slice of pizza for about a month, it just might be to soon. I love pizza, but enough is enough. Thursday was again the best night. The demo derby and battle of the bands. Our lot was full and the fair's lot was full. We had to turn away a few cars. Some of them called us all kinds of names and such. Well to fucking bad, if you can't get there early enough to get in, after two years
of having capacity crowds, you think people would learn. Oh well.

We had little beer left, we gave it to Ronny, he stores our shed at his place till next year. We took everything down on Monday night and cleaned up the lot. So that's it for the rest of the summer, except for the comming holiday. Then it's get ready for winter. Not that I'm wishing for winter. But were on the downside now and hopefully we will have a long and warm fall.

Maybe in the next few weeks, I'll be able to go visit my sister before it gets to cold at the lake....

That's it for know, Keep your stick on the ice........

parking week

Ah, it's fair parking week. Our Kiwanis club is parking cars in a lot adjacent to the Fairgrounds. We've been doing it for several years as a fund raiser. We have had two decent nights as far as weather. Tonight's the big night. There is a battle of the bands that draws a crowd. And of course the Demolition Derby, that will really pack in the demo fanatics. Last year we had almost 500 cars in our lot. But what makes it tuff this year, is they say that because of the way the trailers are parked in the Fair's lot, they lost about 100 to 200 parking spaces, and another private lot, is not open this year, so we will be very busy.

I'm pooped this morning. I had a Doctors apointment in Herkimer yesterday morning. I walked down and got the bus to Herkimer, and of course I had to get dropped off at the old Vampire Diner,(Empire Diner), the bus driver said that they don't drop people off on the main road, so I have to get off at the diner. Bullshitt. Their bus schedule has it printed that they drop and pick up people at the Kmart and Bassett Healthcare as well as The diner. Fuck em. It was a substitute driver so I guess he wanted to be an asshole. I had to walk down and back to the Doctors office. So I had a lot of walking yesterday. Plus helping park the cars at the lot last night and I guess I got a little extra excercise. It was difficult getting out of bed this morning and I'll bet I'll be sleeping in tommorrow morning.

If tonight's anything like last year, we will be swamped with cars and traffic will be backed up both ways on route 5S at the exit's. Lat year the Fair's lot was full and the other private lot was full, they even sent a cop down to direct traffic in front of our lot to direct people into our lot because of the others being full. We are trying to get our people up there early to get things going and hopefully we will have enough help to park all the extra cars.

Of course we have plenty of refreshments and we order pizza ever night. Hopefully we don't run out of refreshments. (Refreshment's =beer and for the non drinking people, soda}. We also have our Fall Raffle tickets for sale, so if youwant to get into our raffle stop by and pick up a ticket.......

well that's enough for now, I'll let everbody know how we made out thjis week. TTFN...............

Oh by the way, Keep your stick on the Ice...

Fruit and Veggies......

Well it has been a good morning. My cable was installed this morning. They ahd me be home from 8am to 12 noon. Well he came about 9 am,so it wasn't a wasted morning... Wow I can get clear channels... It's been weird, watchin snowy and fading in and out channels for two month's. I had a good amount of time left in the morning, so I took a walk. I just stopped in to the old liquor store to see whats going on. I was sitting down at the desk using their computer to check my email, and someone came in and asked how to get a hold of old DM.... Well it was my buddy Art's dad. He was looking for directions to my place or how to get a hold of me. Well he had some goodie's for me. His friend brought him some tomato's and some beans, (Italian type), so I got a nice bag of veggies as well as a half a watermelon. Ge now that's a nice surpirse. I was just thinking about green beans and tomatoes.. I've been looking around and haven't seen to many tomato's or beens at the stands this year. I know it's not that early, but with the weather we've had , it's been a tough year for veggies.. I heard this is going to be a great year for apples... Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!....can't wait..

Well it's a nice morning... Guess I'll walk home and cook up some beans and have a tomato salad for lunch.

Another Sunday and not much going on. Just me and my computer and of coarse the TV. The Brickyard is on . I haven’t been following the Nascar seen much this year. Just been to busy getting ready to move and moving, then unpacking and all that shit. Jeeze, I could always have a few Manhattans to make the day go by a little easier if I was into a solitary drunk. But alas I’m not in the mood. The weather has kind of gotten better out. Yesterday was really nice, not to hot. Humidity was not to bad. I even walked down to the store to get bread and a few things. This week I need to see about getting cable turned on. Just the cheap ass channels. I can’t afford anything more. Oh well, just thought I’d post my boring day….. I guess it could be worse. TTfn

?^$%^$*&^Computer / f'n humidity

Well I’ll try this again. You know it really pisses me of when this fuckin computer screw’s up. It just kicked me out of the word possessor for no apparent reason.
I was writing about how freakin humid it is this morning. It’s so f’n humid, it’s like breathing through a extremely wet sponge. I knew it was going to be a tough day to breath, I woke up and had to use my nebulizer even before I made coffee this morning. But when I stepped out to walk down to Rite Aid for my prescriptions, It felt like I hit a brick wall. It was just plain stifling.
What else is there to complain about today….. Let’s see, were any of you out in the heat the last two day’s. Yesterday I went grocery shopping in the morning. Not to bad out, but bringing them in was really hard. Just took so long to get them all up into the apartment. I was soaking wet with perspiration. I had to change my cloth’s they were so wet. Almost all my frozen food was thawed. But I guess I got them in the freezer just in time.
I haven’t drank anything but water and Koolaid type drinks the past three days. No alcohol or anything else. Which is good in this weather. But you know, I could go for a nice cold beer right now. Maybe a nice bottle of Labatts or even a bottle of Saranac Pale Ale. Or even a bottle of Sam Adams. Oh well not for a while…… Hope we get the rain, not that we need it, but it might cool down and get ride of the humidity. Maybe this weekend I’ll get a six pack or my luck a twelve pack of beer…….. Till then, I’ll just have to wait to see if it cools down a little………… TTFN

After the Storms….. Wow…..

I guess we have somewhat survived the last few weeks of freaky weather. Now we get the 90 to 100-degree temps. I guess Mother nature is really keeping us guessing. I’ve survived the heat and humidity pretty well. I’ve been rained on a lot, but a little water never hurt no one. But I sure wouldn’t want to be anyone that was flooded out. You know, they still don’t know if that was a tornado in Utica on Saturday. I hear the National Weather Service is going to be in Utica today to check out the damage and weather related information. That would be really cool. An f’n tornado in Utica…..

I feel sorry for anyone who got caught in the storm Saturday. I heard it caught a lot of people off guard at the Irish Festival at the Fair Grounds. They still had a good turn out from what I heard. I know they had lots of Guinness beer flowing. I really think the Whiskey Distributors and the organizers should get involved in this and get a temporary license to sell Irish Whisky. I heard there was a lot of people looking for Irish Whisky.

I was hoping my sister would call or email me as to if I could come out this summer to visit, and I still have stuff at the other apartment she could help me get to my new place. I have just my tools and fishing tackle and my marble top table to bring up. Should be able to get it hear in one trip. I’ve kind of gotten used to living up in the manor…. I have to use my oxygen tanks a lot more than before. I have to take the tank with me when I walk down street. It would take me way to long and make it difficult to get down and back home.

I wonder how Sue’s new puppy Lulu and her dog Tucker are getting along. I think those two are going to be a handful. I have to meet Lulu, she’s so cute… Oh well…. Guess I’ll just wait and see……

Life at the new digs….

I guess I can write about the apartment. It’s really nice. Got the air conditioner in yesterday. Just in time for the hot muggy weather we are supposed to have. Could only put in the one air conditioner, the window in the bedroom is too small to put the other one in. So I guess I’ll just have the one. Which by the way is working very well and keeping the whole apartment nice and cool. At night I put the box fan on the floor and blow cool air into the bedroom, which works well to keep cool at night. Last night was the first really good night of sleep in the new place. Guess I’m used to the place now. The first night, I was just really over tired and had to get up early to go to our Kiwanis meeting. And the next two nights just to get used to the new surroundings. All in all, I guess I’m going to really like living here.

I guess they finaly got the elevator fixed. I won’t go near it, when the next time it malfunctions, nobody can blame it on me. Of coarse we have the hall monitor type people, who have nothing better to do than look for some one to blame something on. They think they know everything in the whole wide world, and you are the ones who can’t understand a simple thing. I’ve dealt with those kind people before. They have put up with all the shit and stuff like that all their little insignificant lives. And now that they are older and retired or just plain miserable they want you to know they are better than you, and give you the business. Well I can’t blame them, I guess I might be like that when I get to that age and point in my life. Oh well.

Went to the Dr.’s yesterday. Went for a normal checkup. Everything was real good. BP was fine, breathing was good, heart sounded fine. Got some prescriptions straightened out. Last time I had them call in a script to the pharmacy, they called in the wrong dosage. So now I’m good to go for six months or so. I don’t have to go back to Dr. Sperling for two and a half months. I have to go see my other doctor next month.

That’s it for now……Keep your stick on the ice!

Well, I’m moved in. Almost.!!!

Well, I’m moved in. Almost. Just a few things left to get up here, but you can say, I’m in….
Now that’s pretty good. Considering, I only had my self, my buddies Art, Keith and Mark. I was having the damnedest time breathing. Keith I think was worse than I was for breathing; I had to let him use some of my oxygen. He was really having a tuff time. I really appreciate Arts contribution. He busted his ass. And Mark, thank God he had the trailer and could help for the time he did. Of coarse there was an ambulance call while they were loading up the trailer. Art and I just brought up a load in his truck while Mark did the ambulance run. But Mark and Art got the big stuff up quickly, so Mark could go and pick up his daughter before he left. I don’t, let me refraise that, I know that Art and I would not have got those things up. As it was, Art was late getting done and hade to make a special trip to bring my clothesbasket up with the shower curtain and the toilet paper. Of coarse, Art grabbed the wrong basket. I know he was a little upset about having to come back to bring the basket, and then get here with the wrong basket. I didn’t want him to go back and get it, I just waited till today to get it. Keith came over and took me to Wally World to get groceries. I had used up all my groceries at the other place so we wouldn’t have to move a lot of food.
Keith and I also stopped and got the correct basket and the rest of the stuff we could get in his car. All I need to get back at the other apartment is the kitchen table, two kitchen chairs and my tools, and fishing gear. Hopefully, I can con my sister to come out and help me move the rest of the stuff next week end. That will give me time to unpack and find everything that I packed.

Now of coarse there had to be a BIG FUCKING PROBLEM when we were to move. The parking lot at my new apartment was being torn up and some of the sidewalks were being replaced on Friday. What the FUCK……. That kind of put us behind the eightball in moving things in. I think that made us have to make alternative entry points, and took more time to get things up to the second floor where my apartment is.

So I can say, I’m moved in and I’m glad. You know, I REALY HATE MOVING…….
Art gave me a home warming present of Manhattan Fixin’s, so I’m enjoying one right now. Maybe I’ll have another when I’m done with this one. I’m not going anywhere…. And I pooped. Brining up the groceries and all the stuff yesterday, plus all the unpacking, it’s been a long two days.

So here’s to you my buddies, Keith Mark and especially Art…….. Hope you sit down and have one when you get home tonight Art…..

Keep the Faith….!!!!!!!

I know..........

I know, it’s been a while. But have an excuse. I’ve been packing and getting ready to move. In fact yesterday, I with the help of my friend Art, moved two loads of boxes to the new apartment. And on Friday we will move the rest of the stuff. Mark is going to bring down his trailer, and we can put the heavy stuff on that and maybe we can do it all in one trip.

I really hate moving, and I’m not as young as I used to be and I can’t breath as well and get pooped out quickly. But hopefully I won’t be moving any time soon, after I’m in my new place. It’s a nice place, even has an elevator for handicap individuals. So when I get groceries, I can use it to bring them up to my apartment. But otherwise I will use the stairs.
I get to keep my phone number. So if any of my friends need to call me, its still the same….
You know, you say it every time, I’m going to get rid of that stuff, all the crap you don’t need, but for some reason, you keep. Well, I got rid of three garbage bags full of crap, old photo’s cloths I don’t wear or haven’t worn in two years. All kinds of stuff. I have to sell my washer and dryer, my stove, my dinning room set. Hopefully, I’ll get what I want for them. So I can pay off some bills and get things straightened out.
Well that’s it for now. I’ll be back after I unpack…….

The Day After....

Well now. have any of you dried out yet????

Yes! I will have a new home......

That's right, I will be moving to a new apartment in July. I will however still stay in my little town. Just moving up the street. Yes it means a longer walk to pay bills, but what the hell. Maybe I can buy a bike and peddle my ass around......
It's a really nice apartment. A lot more room than the other I was looking into. They will eventuaaly have an elevator so if I'm have trouble breathing , I won't have to climb the stairs. But that's not a problem. plenty of closet space. A small bedroom, but who cares. Nice kitchen, butr a small, mean really small stove. Oh well.

That's it for now, I have to statr packing......

Wondering where???

I'm still in the dark as to where I will be moving to. I've not heard back from either place about an interview or if they will let me move in. I hope to know this weekend. I have to pack and sort out what to take and what to sell. If I move to Ilion, I'll have to sell my dinning room set and my set of china. I also have to sell my washer and dryer as well as the stove. All three are only three years old. The washer is a front loader. They are the best. And I have a very good electic dryer. The stove is a gas. Hope to get about a hundred bucks each for them. I hate to really sell the china or the dinning room set. I know I'll never get the money they are worth. I want at least a hundred for the china and at least five hundred for the dinning room set. The set has table with two or three table leaves and six or eight chairs. Two are broken but can be fixed really easy and a few need to be reupulstered. I also have fabric and stuffing to do two or three chairs. Also the set has a china cabinet and sideboard with it. They are in pretty good shape. I know they are worth quite a bit. If you tried to buy a new set like this, you have to pay at least four to five grand for it. I know I don't have to rush out of here, but the apartments at these placesn don't stay vacant for long or if they aren/\'t going to let me in, at least tell me so I can find another place or places to live.....
Speaking of other things, like cigars. I was cleaning out a few boxes of stuff I've had stored to see if I want to keep things when I move. Well I fgound my old cigar magazines and ny stash of cigar accessories. I still ahve my cutters and ponch and two lighters. I haven't had a cigar in almost a year, I really miss smoking cigars , but I really like breathing much more than smoking/ But I Might have a yearly cigar. My buddy Mark gave me three nice churchil size cigars he brought back from His trip to Florida a few months ago. I've kept them in a ziplock bag with my old humidification device, and i check them at least once a week. they have stayed nice and fresh. I have two cigar jar type humidors, but I use the to store my coffee beans in them. I really miss the relaxation zi get from smoking cigars. Oh well, life goes on.
While in the liquors store this morning, I usually stop and say hello when I get my mail. We share the same mailbox, if they are not open when thw mail carrier comes by. I noticed that there is another flavor of Absolut Vodka. Ruby Red. What are they comming out with next? Let's see, there is red grapefruit, cranberry, orange, lemon, hot pepper, chocolate, vanilla, rasberry, there is even a vodka made from pomeganates. There is vodka's , gin's, rums and even tequillas that are flavored. There is even a cucumber infused gin. They have even started to flavor whiskeys. Come on, leave the stuff alone, thats what we use juices and mixers for. Besides why would you want to drink whiskey that has extra flavorings. Especially bourbon or scotch whisky. Oh well. Must be enough asshole's out there that think up ways to fuck up a good product. Guess I've spouted out enough or now.

Well oh welloh well.

That was funky. I had about a paragraph typed out in the processor and it just erased it self. Oh well.I now I haven't been keeping up with my blog, but I've been
under the weather, not sick, but out of touch with reality. Wow reality, what a concept!
Well on to the latest happening with the "Big Guy", I came back from my sisters after two weeks of watching it fuckin rain most of the time. I think I did enough painting to last a while. Three bedrooms and two hallways and a bathroom. Two coats in each. We also cristened the brand mew Toro ridding lawm mower she bought. (Once it stopped freakin raining.) But I had a great time keeping the dog amused as well as painting.
After comming home I just hung out and I guess I just got into a little rutt. Then went a little batty. Maybe it was just the rain, cabin fever, you know. Then it got fuckin hot. I had to put the air conditioners in the windows. Now its freakin cold and rainy again. Just gotta love the weather in Central New York.
Well the realy big news is, the Big Guy has to move. Yes, the building was auctioned of two weeks ago and I am moving. Not to sure where I will move, but it won't be till either July or August. Hopefully I won't have to sell my dining room set or the washer or dryer. Oh well, if do, I'll sell at a good price.
Well thats enough for now, see ya in the funny papers.!!!!!!!

A bright sunny day

Yes another great day in Central New York. I've spent a good portion of the day cleaning my room. Spring cleaning that is. Putting away all or most of my winter duds. I still have a few for the cool spring days ahead, but I don't need to have everything out.
I've been thinking..(on boy, that's a dangerous idea, me thinking.)
I need a spring road trip. To where, you ask. But to the eastern part of the state. Yes maybe a little working trip. To Casa Miller by the Lake. Yes sir, tho the big yellow house by the lake. My sister need's help building some planters in the front of her yard. I told her I would help build them. She has some old stone fondations in the woods on the other side of the creek that she owns, that she wants to use to bild the planters. Shouldn't be to hard ubnless she wants massive planters.. You never know.....
Well thats it for now, see youi in the funny papers........

Hello,hello, is this thing on????

Hello, I guess I've been away a while. Still recovering from my pneumonia. Get to go back to the doctors today. Oh boy..... A wasted afternoon. Bit thats OK, I haven't done much these past few days except for Sunday. We had our annual Kiwanis Pancake breakfast...... I guess I overdid myself, I took two days to recover from the festivities... Bloddy Mary's and screwdrivers. Well maybe that was my problem, or was it the coming off of prednisone, that made me feel so shitty. Or was it both. I would say most likely both. I hate coming off that stuff. Makes me feel really bad, even though they wene me off the stuff, but I was on that for over two weeks.
I still feel a little light headed, more than usual. Oh well, but I guess I'm on the mend.... till next time, Keep your stick on the ice....

Back from the brink

Well I guess I should write in my blog today. After being kind of out of it for a week or so. Yes the big guy was in the Hospital last weekend, with Pneumonia…….. Yes the dreaded pneumo cacca????? I know spelling is not my forte, but who the fork cares…..
But I am on my way to recovery. But it’s taking it’s own freakin time. For those who keep track, I was in on Thursday and they through me out on Sunday. Just a weekend stay at the home. Can’t wait til Monday, then I can go to Walmart and other places to get so food in the house. My cupboards are getting bare.

Final four weekend, and I don’t give a shit who plays or wins. I seem to think this years brackets are all fucked up. So lots of money to be made and lost. Oh, well, I’m not one of them. Just so glad it’ll be over on Monday.

Another one in the history books

I survived my Birthday and St. Patty’s Day. Only to catch a freakin cold. I think it might be bronchitis. Lovely. Freakin Lovely. Well at least I have some medicinal whiskey to help with my cold. Some hot lemonade and Jack Daniels. Just a touch of the whiskey though. Don’t want to get drunk with this cold. It’s not a good way to deal with it. But it just might work. Any way, if I don’t improve in a few days, I’ll go see my doctor. Can’t afford to be sick for too long.

My buddy Art came home this weekend. His dad was sick and needed to go to urgent care so I didn’t get to see him till Sunday morning. He took me to get a few things in Herkimer. So now I got coffee for the rest of the month and then some. Speaking of coffee I need some, my cup is empty, so T T for F’n N.

A little black labeled bottle.

I know, let’s talk about something I haven’t talked about lately. Bourbon. Well at least Jack. I know, it’s technically not bourbon, but is made like bourbon, except for the charcoal filtering process. I had a few of them yesterday, on my birthday. Yes it still tastes as good as I remember. I just love the feel of it in my mouth as I swirl it around. It’s that perfect kind of feel; you have to have experienced this to know what I’m talking about. The taste is unmistakable. Sooty, kind of dry, yet a nice finish. Yum. I’ve missed that taste and that lovely whisky buzz you get when it rushes to your head. But I must say that after not having any “mash” in quite a while I was surprised that I didn’t choke on the fist sip. Guess old habit die slowly.

Mark gave me a small bottle of Jack for my birthday and we had a nice toast to my elderly statesman form. (Now that’s a bunch of crap, statesman, Ha Ha) Yup another year and you can call me am old fart… Be careful of the Fart …Ha Ha!

Gees something else I haven’t talked about lately is a good cigar. Well I haven’t had one lately either. But again, Mark a week or so ago gave me three cigars he picked up when he was in Florida. I have them in a nice humidified state till the weather gets nice and I can go outside and smoke one. Most likely not. I like to breath more then smoke a cigar but maybe when my bud Art comes home in the summer, we can smoke one…

Speaking of Art, he’ll be home this weekend. He might have a present for me. A bottle of Green Label Jack. If not, no big thing. We’ll just have to finish off my little bottle of Jack.

Guess what today is?

Ahhhhhhh.!!!! The coffee is very good today. I cleaned the pot and everything. As well as the kitchen. The rest will wait till this afternoon if I’m inclined to… And today is the birthday of a great man. Me… Ta Da…! Yes, I’m one step closer to being an old fart…

Well one good thing, today the sun, yes the bright yellow orb, is shinning brightly this morning. Quite a change from the normal birthday. Usually it’s snowing and blowing and just a miserable day weather wise.
Don’t think I’ll go out and celebrate too much. I just don’t do hangovers well anymore. Besides, I don’t have the money.

I had my regular doctor’s appointment on Monday. I had blood work taken last week. I guess I’m going to live at least another year. Everything was good. Blood pressure was great, blood work was fine, cholesterol was good, blood sugar was good. The only thing was my blood count was high. What else is new? If it gets above 60, Dr. Butala will draw of a pint. So I guess I have something to celebrate.

Well ta ta for now………

A mystery

I Guess I’m a mystery…
The last test Dr. B. had done came back normal. Now that is perplexing. He can’t figure out why or what is causing my condition. So…. He just wants to wait and see how my blood work is in a few months. Ain’t that a kick in the pants…? Just like I figured. I’m a complicated type of guy, so I guess my blood is complicated. I guess if one of my counts gets above a certain number, they will draw off a pint and see what happens after that. Oh well…

I’ve been kind of lacking in my blog lately. I just haven’t had much to talk about. I could always talk about coffee…. Yes I bought a bag of hazelnut coffee beans. I brewed up a pot this morning. Not to bad. I only bought a half of a pound to try it out. They didn’t have any of my regular decaf, so I got that instead and stopped at Dunkin Donuts and got a pound of their decaf to try at home. I still have a few pots worth of beans from last month’s supply. I just love my coffee grinder. For me it’s just been the perfect gift. Thanks Art and Lynn.

It’s the birthday time of year for my family. My sister’s was last month, my dads used to be the sixth of this month. Mine is the day before St. Patrick’s Day. One of my best friends from my child hood is on the 10th and another friends is on is on the 18th. Happy birthday to Dad, Bob, Sue and of course my sister Suzie Q…. (I know she’ll hate me for the Suzie Q.)

Another big birthday last month was Tuckers. My sisters dog. He’s one years old. What a nut he is. Sue has a webpage on Dogster.com for Tucker. She has lots of photos and a journal for Tucker. In some of the photo’s, I can just read Tuckers mind, “Why, Mom Why do you torture me with these god awful costumes and hats…Let me be like I’m supposed to be, just my collar, I’m not one of those little lap dogs or those toilet bowl brush dogs. I’m a outdoorsy type of Manly dog. A manly man. If you want, I like that real cool bandanna you put on me from time to time. But stick the hats on your own head”…. Oh, by the way, I think Tucker likes Frosty Paws…

Well it’s about time to say bye bye for the day, so TTFN.

If you want to see Sue’s dog Tuckers web page go to

Ah, I guess it’s been a while. So sue me…..
Just came back from a nice walk to the bank, post orifice and the drug store…. Just an exciting morning so far. (Big whoop). The strange yellow orb is in the sky again. You know something that looks like the SUN… Maybe that freakin ground hog was wrong. I can just hear that little woodchuck saying to himself, “Six more months of winter, you assholes. That’s what you fuckers get. Wake me up very fuckin year at this time, of course I’m going to hide my little head, you stupid fuck’s….” Well we in the Mohawk Valley were missed by the last big storm. Yeah, let the Big Apple and all those fuckers down there have all the snow. They deserve it.

I consider myself lucky this year. I haven’t had to shovel any snow at all.
OOPS, better not type this so loudly, someone might hear and my luck will change. Oh well, too late…….. TTFN

Thursday, February 02, 2006

Ah yes, the day after the doctor’s visit…..
I’m still alive and somewhat well.. I have no idea what’s up with my conditions….I need to (as Kenny Rogers once said) see what condition my condition is in…. Yes Dr. B. can’t figure out what’s up either. Now check this out. Almost everything was normal or within acceptable limits. I had one test done when I had the CT scan. That was in the acceptable range. Then had the same test done again. That test was out of normal parameters. Now I have to have another test to see what test was correct. So I have to go get another blood test in the next few days. Then if that comes back out of whack………. I have to get the big needle again. You guessed it, another bone marrow test. Dr.B. was kidding me, I have such big bones and hard bones he has to find a needle 4 and a half to 5 inches long. Yikes………. Oh well. This time I’ll bring the cane with me so I don’t fall down and hurt someone or myself. The only thing I got out of the visit with the doctor was that there might be a problem. Yes he used the “L” word. Yes some type of Leukemia, but a treatable type. Well he’s kind of stumped. So we get to wait and see how these test come out.

Now for some nicer news. That bright yellow orb, that looks like the Sun is out again. I know that can’t be the Sun, it’s February and we’re not supposed to see the Sun at all, till some time around the middle of March. Oh by the way, if you haven’t heard, The Ground Hog saw his shadow. That means we are going to have more Winter. Oh well, we can’t win for losing. Something to look for when you get your National Grid Bill, There is a seasonal adjustment on your bill this month. That is for when the usage is less than what they projected. They get to charge us for using less energy,. Isn’t that nice. We get Fucked no matter what……. What a country…….

I was a bad boy today. Well I started out a good boy. I got up had to go to the Pharmacy, and get two prescriptions I forgot to get yesterday. (Thanks Keith, for reminding me, I guess we both forgot….) I also had promised Joe (at the bakery), I’d bring him a mirror I had from the store, to put in his son-in-law’s bar. Well he was thrilled and gave me some donuts and cinnamon rolls for the mirror. I should have just gotten a couple loaves of bread instead.. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to walk downtown again this afternoon, for extra exercise…… Maybe…. Oh well…. But they tasted good with my coffee. Fresh ground coffee and fresh cinnamon rolls…yummy.

Well that’s it for today, TTFN and all that shit.!!

Monday, January 30, 2006

Two more days and then I'll find out how my test's ame out. Hopefully they will be OK. Not that I think that there will be anything major, but one never knows.
What a day today is,. If anyone here in the valley hasn't been out, they should it is absolutely wonderful out. The temp is about twenty degrees above normal. I'll bet it make better than 50 degrees out today. Guess we can't complain about the weather we've had the past few weeks. Well TTFN.... Keep your stick on thr ice..

Thursday, January 26, 2006

I guess I've recovered from my getting speared by the Doctor. I had to use a cane for a day and a half. Guess what, the lab screwed up a test and I had to go back and retest. Just to vails of blood. I was glad it wasn't another bone marrow test. I would have tlod them to shit in their hat.....
Just waiting till next week to find out the reults of these last tests. Just remember, lifes to shotr to be waiting for tests.....TTFN

Run Away!! Run Away!!

Yes I know it’s been a while, but I haven’t been in the mood to blog lately. But after today, I had better blog.
I have had a real freaked out few weeks. Going to this Doctor and that Doctor and having all kinds of tests. Well today was the topper. I had a bone marrow biopsy done. Yes it’s a whole lot of fun. And of coarse I’m being sarcastic. Very sarcastic. If they ever want to do one on you, run away, yes run as fast as you can to the exit.
It’s not pleasant. But, I guess it could be worse. They could always want to do both sides of you. You see the procedure goes like this. They give you numbing medication, local anesthetic of some kind. I mean a lot of it. Then they advance a long needle, about three to four inches long. They have to go into your hip bone and of coarse it feels like they are drilling into the bone with a 3/8 inch drill bit. Well anyways, that’s what it felt like. Then they take some of the marrow out. Then they’re done. They forgot to tell me I might have trouble standing up and walking. I thought I was going to take the cute nurse right down to the floor with me. I think, I’m going to have a nice little bruise on my knee where I fell.
Oh, by the way, my CT scan I had a week or so ago, didn’t give the Dr. any reason for my condition, that’s why the bone marrow was done today. The only thing that they found in the CT scans was that I have some junk in my gall bladder, as Dr. B. told me.
Well who knows what’s up. I’m sure it will be another several tests before they know.
The weather has been freaky, not to cold and not much snow.
I haven’t had to really use my new jacket that much. But don’t worry, winter will still get us.
Well that’s all for now, I can’t sit on this hard chair any longer. My hip is starting to hurt…….. TTFN.

Yes I’m Back!

I’m back; actually I’ve been back for a week or so, but just didn’t feel like posting til this morning. Had a pretty good week at my sisters. The dog kept me on the go. He’s kinda kewl… A picky eater and has a mind of his own.
I got some nice gifts. A real great winter jacket to keep me warm and a coffee grinder. Now that’s a real cool gift. I also got a pound, (actually a 14 oz package), of Green Mountain Coffee beans to grind up. You just grind up enough for a pot. Wow, I mean WOW!!! What a great cup of coffee. I just got so excited, I just spilled my coffee. A good cup will do that to you.

This week is doctor week. Plus a trip to Utica to get a CAT scan. Just what I needed. Well the Dr. wants to find out why I have this problem with my blood having to many red cells. I also have to have some special blood tests. Then I get to see him in two weeks to find out what they found out. With luck, it won’t be to bad of news.

Today, I’m making some soup. My normal beef concoction. Smells good. With the little hint of mustard. Yes you know me; I slopped some mustard on my clean white tee shirt while eating a hot dog. Hence the mustard smell. Still smells like soup…….yumm.m.m.m….

Well that’s it, time to go watch football. Not that I’m really interested in any of the games. See ya later…………..
